Whitewater Progression - Multi Day Trips

This is a typical whitewater progression for rafters and catarafters in the Pacific Northwest. The classifications are based on each of these runs being in their normal flow range. High or low water on each of these runs alter the the river difficulty.

Class II to III

• John Day (Clarno to Cottonwood)
• Klamath (Sluice Box to Happy Camp, "Lower")
• Grand Ronde (Minam to Troy)
• Salmon (Hammer Cr to Snake R)

Class III

• Deschutes (Macks Canyon to mouth, "Lower")

Class III to IV

• Snake ("Hells Canyon”)
• Owyhee (Rome to Birch/Leslie, "Lower”)
• Rogue (Grave Cr to Foster Bar)
• Salmon (Corn Cr to Vinegar Cr, "The Main”)
• Bruneau (Indian Hot Spr. to 8 mi S of Bruneau)
• Colorado ("Grand Canyon”)
• MF Salmon (Boundary Cr to Cache Bar)

Class IV

• Middle Owyhee (Three Forks to Rome)
• Selway (Paradise to Race Cr)

Class IV+

• Crooked (Lone Pine to Lk Billy Chinook)
• Illinois (Miami Bar to Oak Flat)

Class IV+ to V-

• SF Salmon (Secesh to Salmon R)
• Kern ("Forks of the Kern”)
• MF Feather ("Devils Canyon”)

Class V

• Kings (Garlic Falls Section "Upper")
• Secesh (Loon Cr to Lick Cr)
• Rubicon ("Lower”)

Class V to V+

• SF Merced (Wawona to Merced R)
